As a market leader in wireless networking solutions Qualcomm has been instrumental in enabling Wi-Fi to become the primary means of providing network access to devices in homes, small businesses, large enterprises, and public venues such as airports and hotels. As new applications and devices take advantage of Wi-Fi’s seamless network access capabilities the demands for continuous efficiency and performance improvements have never been greater and the diversity of the markets serviced by Wi-Fi have never been broader. Next generation Wi-Fi solutions will drive levels of integration, network efficiency and performance to unprecedented levels. Wi-Fi gateways will be required to deliver high quality interactive gaming, 4K/8K streaming, UHD video conferencing, and AR/VR entertainment services.

To provide these services next generation Wi-Fi gateways will need to provide tight integration of WAN, LAN, and WLAN interfaces and support end to end intelligent traffic management. These system challenges present the opportunity to truly drive the transformation of how Wi-Fi gateways are designed, provisioned, and used. As a thought leader this is where you come in. As a Director of Product Management for Qualcomm’s Wireless Infrastructure Networking (WIN) business you will drive our mainstream platform SoC product strategy in support of these new market opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.

• 8+ years of Product Management or related work experience.

In addition to working directly with the product management team in this US you will work closely with geographically dispersed engineering, marketing, and sales teams to ensure SoC product alignment with customer platform, application, and commercial requirements. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Working with software product managers to specify platform SoC product requirements.

  • Translating customer needs, product requirements, and organizational strategy into successful product plans and facilitating decisions necessary for product delivery by partnering with cross-functional leaders.

  • Identification of opportunities for technology reuse, and architecture innovation that result in SoC optimizations that drive an efficient engineering execution strategy and a clear go to market strategy.

  • Identifying and managing synergies between tactical customer SoC platform features and then distilling, prioritizing, and communicating the SoC platform features to broad sets of geographically dispersed engineering stakeholders and arriving at a negotiated outcome for SoC requirements that best serves the WIN business.

  • Managing the WIN product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.

  • Participate in developing key marketing messages around WIN Wi-Fi networking solution platform.

  • Maintaining subject matter expertise and internally/externally evangelizing technical trends that will have a material impact on the WIN business.

  • Delivering presentations at technical conferences and to customers.

This is a business professional role for a technically strong, experienced platform product manager with a proven track record delivering broadband gateway products into service provider, and retail markets. A minimum of 10 years of broadband access gateway product management or product engineering experience is mandatory. Product Management/Technical capabilities include:

  • Exceptional communication skills with an ability to quickly establish credibility and positive influence across a diverse array of technical teams in multiple geographies.

  • Experience working with service providers and PON technologies including EPON, GPON, XGS-PON, etc.

  • Experience working with TCP/UDP/IP/802.3/802.11x protocols.

  • Experience working with networking data path services including packet filtering, QoS, packet classification, DPI, firewall, wireless IDS/IPS, traffic and application visibility, network instrumentation and telemetry.

  • Proven experience as a product manager, defining and prioritizing requirements and producing business cases leading to successful products/solutions.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field related to electrical engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or similar field.

  • Master’s degree in technical field highly valued, as is MBA or equivalent business degree in addition to technical background.

Pay range:

$189,000.00 - $322,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
