Amazon Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, Kuiper Business Development in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

As a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) in Kuiper’s Commercial Revenue Operations you will define the team’s business intelligence (BI) vision, strategy, and best practices. You will lead the design, implementation, and delivery of high impact BI solutions in a startup environment with limited guidance. You will work with cross-functional partners to define, plan, and build complex analytical solutions to inform business planning, sales performance, customer life-cycle analysis, , capacity management, etc. You will collaborate with these business partners to understand their operational data needs, and translate their requirements into the necessary data models, ETL pipelines, reports, and visualizations. As the team grows, you will participate in hiring and mentoring other BIEs, with the opportunity to manage your own team in the future.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor the commercial business.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business development, marketing, engineers, business leaders to understand their data requirements and translate them into actionable insights and visualizations.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve data quality, performance, and usability of existing dashboards and reports.

  • Apply deep analytic and business intelligence skills to extract meaningful insights and learning from large and complicated data sets.

  • Define the business intelligence vision and strategy for Kuiper Commercial Revenue Operations.

  • Serve as liaison between the business and technical teams to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current business performance, and ad hoc investigations to support future improvements or innovations. This will require data gathering and manipulation, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.

  • Recognize, adopt, and promote best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

About the team

The Commercial Revenue Operations (CRO) team is responsible for driving business strategy, adoption, product strategy and operations for Kuiper's commercial business.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Redmond, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional or military experience

  • 4+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience writing scalable scripts to extract, transform and clean data sets

  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

  • Experience scripting in Python

  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the AWS tech stack (e.g., AWS Console, AWS Glue, AWS CLI, etc)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
