The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Pearl City, Hawaii region. The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Your responsibilities
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Requirements
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
CPA or MBA preferred
Proficiency in Construction Accounting
CPA experience desired
Proven knowledge of Cash Flow Forecasts
Well-founded grasp of Sage 300
Cash Flow Forecasts experience highly desired
Command of GAAP Accounting
Foundational knowledge in financial analysis
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Preference will be given to applicants currently residing in Hawaii due to the nature of the job requirements.
