As a Manager in our team, you will participate in the decision-making process and provide professional counsel, advice and guidance to network management in the areas of Controllership (External Reporting, Policy, business systems).

This is a temporary role for a period of one year.

This role can be based in Ottawa or Montreal.

More specifically, you will:

  • Manage, plan and coordinate projects of a highly confidential, sensitive and specialized nature on behalf of network management impacting network operations

  • Provide IFRS advice on significant transactions to the network

  • Ensure that network managers are aware of all policies, procedures and controls to ensure that the Corporation’s assets are safeguarded and that expenditures are in accordance with IFRS

  • Recommend the establishment of appropriate internal controls designed to safeguard the assets of the Corporation and recommend changes and updates to policies and procedures as required to address changes in the operating environment; and

  • Maintain business system and/or chart of accounts integrity

  • Coordinate the production of accurate and timely reports on behalf of network management

  • Responsible for the reconciliation between internal budgeting reports and external reporting

  • Support the Corporate Reporting team in the production of the Financial Reports of the Corporation; and

  • Approve journal entries and working papers to support Network accounting as needed

  • Lead the network CRTC reporting annually and in times of license renewals by:

  • Ensuring financial data integrity of CRTC reports (including TM1); and

  • Manage the preparation of financial analysis as requested

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Possesses a professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)

  • Between three to five years of experience in a related field

  • Proficient in English (asset)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead a team of accounting officers and present to senior management

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • In-depth knowledge, training and experience in the areas of Internal or External Reporting, Internal Controls and Financial Operations

  • Must have a very high degree of judgement, initiative and integrity in order to achieve the objectives demanded of the position
