Robert Half Payroll Manager in Everett, Washington

Description Robert Half has an open interim Payroll Manager position for a client in the public sector. This contract Payroll Manager role requires that you have a hand in all aspects of payroll operations (vendors, systems, processes and integration). For this role, you should be able to streamline processes, produce timely, precise, and compliant payrolls, and offer high-quality customer service. Are you a detail oriented who is flexible and has payroll management skills? If so, this Payroll Manager position is well suited for you! This long-term contract / contract employment opportunity is based in the Everett, Washington area.

Key responsibilities

  • Taking the lead on pre- and post-payroll auditing/reconciling procedures, as well as troubleshoot anomalies

  • Keep an eye on all internal and external audits

  • Handle payroll staff and operations

  • Perform payroll analysis

  • Provide internal safeguards by overseeing record keeping and control systems

  • Partner with other areas in Finance, as well as Human Resources, Tax, IT, and other departments as necessary for reporting, compliance and strategic analysis

  • Work with fellow members of senior Finance leadership team

  • Enhance current processes by suggesting, leading, and working on a range of projects

  • Recruit staff in addition to growing and leading a successful team

  • Relay information and data to senior executives and cross-functional business leaders and reply to any questions

  • Work on weekly, monthly, and special compensation payroll runs, in addition to interpreting pay policies (LOA, disability, worker's compensation, vacation, bonus, etc.) and making sure accurate amounts/deductions are applied to earnings codes in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws Requirements - Candidates with strong interpersonal skills will do well in this position

  • Adeptness in Process Bi-weekly Payroll

  • Proficiency in in-house payroll

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Process Improvement Projects

  • Payroll tax experience highly desired

  • Foundational knowledge in union payroll

  • Understands a number of payroll applications

  • Certified Payroll Profession (CPP) certification beneficial

  • Proficient in a wide array of payroll-related cloud-based technology solutions

  • Excellent verbal, written, and social skills
