The Program Manager will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and developing strategic lending relationships to support the bank in building and maintaining its solid indirect credit portfolio. This will involve working closely with current and potential strategic lending partners, bank credit administration, chief credit officers, the Credit Committee, and bank management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Onboard and manage relationships with strategic third-party lending partners

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the strategic partner program and certain strategic lending partners

  • Host and visit partners as needed to deepen relationships

  • Evaluate, recommend, and complete due diligence for new strategic partnerships and lending opportunities

  • Work with Bank legal and outside counsel on agreements for new strategic partners

  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies related to the lending product assigned

  • Present new consumer and small business loan opportunities to the Credit Committee for approval

  • Mentor, develop and motivate team members and direct reports to develop leadership capabilities and produce high-quality outcomes

  • Support bank management during regulatory exams and internal/external audits

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement efficiencies within the underwriting and closing/funding function for the lending partners assigned

  • Collaborate with Credit Administration, Underwriters, and the Operations team to further develop templates and processes

  • Create credit underwriting memos which analyze the consumer credit/partnership request and their financial and credit information, repayment sources, risks and mitigation, collateral, and compliance with applicable regulations and policies 

  • Be knowledgeable of policies, guidelines, procedures, regulations and systems applicable to the credit function

  • Ensure that files and documentation are complete

  • Make, recommend, and present credit decisions to credit administration and credit committee through both effective written and verbal communication

  • Assist with portfolio management and monitoring by ensuring documentation is received in a timely manner

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients

  • May use underwriting models and analytics to evaluate large groups of data to determine if the data is sufficient for credit approval

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience analyzing business and personal financial statements associated with loan requests

  • 5+ years of experience underwriting consumer and small business loans, including both unsecured loans and loans secured by various types of collateral

  • 5+ years of experience working in credit or lending role with a commercial bank

  • 3+ years of experience underwriting commercial loans and reviewing loan documents

  • 2+ years of experience managing relationships with borrowers or third-party lending partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal commercial credit training program

  • Experience working out problem loans

  • Project management experience in a matrixed environment

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
